Chiropractic is a health care profession that focuses on disorders of the musculoskeletal system and the nervous system, and the effects of these disorders on general health.  Chiropractic care is used most often to treat neuromusculoskeletal complaints, including but not limited to back pain, neck pain, pain in the joints of the arms or legs, and headaches.

Doctors of Chiropractic – often referred to as chiropractors or chiropractic physicians, practice a drug-free, hands-on approach to health care that includes patient examination, diagnosis and treatment. Chiropractors have broad diagnostic skills and are also trained to recommend therapeutic and rehabilitative exercises, as well as to provide nutritional, dietary and lifestyle counseling.

According to "Sports Medicine Essentials: Core Concepts in Athletic Training and Fitness Instruction" by Jim Clover, muscle reeducation is one of the principal applications of electrical muscle stimulation. Muscle reeducation may need to be used in the early stages of physical rehabilitation following an injury that has either left certain muscles unused for a long period of time, or that has affected the brain. The goals of this treatment are to build basic tone and strength in weakened muscles and to force the contraction of these muscles in a coordinated pattern so as to strengthen the cognitive link between the brain and the movements. After training with electrical stimulation muscle reeducation therapies to the point where they can properly use affected muscles on their own, physical rehab patients can often move on to more strenuous exercises that will more effectively return those muscles to their optimal strength. The FDA has approved electrical muscle stimulation for this use.

Theraputic Ultrasound and Electric Muscle Stimulation

Although many people are familiar with the term ultrasound, there are a myriad of applications for its use. In the realm of therapy, ultrasound is used during treatment sessions to reduce edema, promote tissue and fracture healing, reduce pain, decrease muscle tone/muscle spasms, increase range of motion, increase circulation and remodel collagen.

Therapeutic ultrasound uses high frequency sound waves to generate tissue vibration that creates heat in the treatment field. Secondary effects from the production of heat include increasing blood flow to tissue, which delivers important nutrients and removes waste. When receiving ultrasound, the therapist uses a coupling medium (gel or water) to transmit sound waves to the treatment area.

Another common modality is electrical stimulation. Electrical stimulation is the application of electrical currents to specific muscles through strategic placement of electrodes. It is often used for neuro-muscular reeducation and decreasing pain through nerve blocks, atrophy and muscle spasms while increasing range of motion. It also reduces edema through sensory stimulation.

Often, therapists use combined modalities to maximize results. Four specific results that are often strived for through the use of ultrasound and/or electrical stimulation include: Managing contractures/increasing range of motion, managing pain and increasing strength.

Frequency Specific Microcurrent
Low Level Laser Therapy

Frequency Specific Microcurrent (FSM) is an exciting new FDA cleared device and way of treating nerve and muscle pain and many other conditions using specific frequencies and micro amperage current. There are hundreds of practitioners across the US, Ireland, Australia, and Canada using FSM to reduce pain and improve health.

Frequency Specific Microcurrent has provided exceptional results for many different skin conditions. Results include reduced scarring and enhanced healing for wounds, burns, cuts, ulcers, abrasions, surgical incisions, allergy reactions, acne, and aging. Scarring is greatly minimized and inflammation reduced when treatment is performed as soon as possible after a surgery or injury. However, significant results can still be achieved after more time has passed.

Many clients have experienced extraordinary outcomes with microcurrent anti-aging treatments. It has been proven to increase collagen and reduce fine lines and wrinkles. Others have had successful outcomes with acne treatments.  Products used in treatments are professional grade and all natural with no parabens or harmful ingredients.

Multi Radiance Super Pulsed Laser is an FDA cleared modality designed for use in the treatment of a variety of musculoskeletal injuries and orthopedic surgery rehabilitation. The FDA states "Lasers are indicated for the temporary relief of minor muscle and joint pain, arthritis and muscle spasm, relieving stiffness, promoting relaxation of muscle tissue, and to temporarily increase local blood circulation where heat is indicated."

An 88% positive effect was demonstrated in studies done on the efficacy of Multi Radiance Medical technology in relieving pain caused by arthritis of small and medium joints. The clinical study involved 140 participants. There are dozens of additional clinical studies and papers available for your review in our clinical studies page; over 4,000 studies have been conducted worldwide to validate the effectiveness of Low Level Lasers.

By managing pain conditions, patients can move to more intensive therapy techniques earlier in the rehabilitation process to help improve functional gains and outcomes.

Pulsed Electromagnetic Field Therapy

Having healthy cells is not a passive process. Active, regular tuning-up of our cells is not only feasible, but also necessary to slow aging and reduce the risk of cell dysfunction. We are, after all, only as healthy as our cells. Imperceptible cell dysfunction that is not corrected early can lead to disease. Fine-tuning can be done daily in only minutes, using pulsed electromagnetic fields (PEMFs). In addition, when there is a known imbalance (when symptoms are present) or there is a known disease or condition, PEMF treatments, used either alone or along with other therapies, can often help cells rebalance dysfunction faster.

PEMFs work to:

  • Reduce pain, inflammation, the effects of stress on the body, and platelet adhesion.

  • Improve energy, circulation, blood and tissue oxygenation, sleep quality, blood pressure and cholesterol levels, the uptake of nutrients, cellular detoxification and the ability to regenerate cells.

  • Balance the immune system and stimulate RNA and DNA.

  • Accelerate repair of bone and soft tissue.

  • Relax muscles.

PEMFs have been used extensively for decades for many conditions and medical disciplines, and results can be seen in animals as well as humans. The National Institute of Health have made PEMFs a priority for research.

AVACEN- Dry Heat Therapy

Over the last 2 years, AVACEN Medical has been awarded 3 U.S. and 8 International patents for its unique apparatus and methods that support its innovative medical process called The AVACEN Treatment Method (ATM).

AVACEN manages the noninvasive and safe continued infusion of heat taking advantage of a unique arrangement of blood vessels called the arteriovenous anastomosis (AVA’s) in the palm of the hand. The AVA’s act as the body’s radiator to dump excess heat. ATM manipulates the AVA’s so they can be used as a portal to infuse heat into the circulatory system. When dilated and distended by ATM, blood flow through an AVA can be 1,000 times more than the smaller capillary.

Infusing heat into the circulatory system reduces blood thickness (viscosity) and increases microvascular circulation. Thinner blood facilitates more efficient flow through the skeletal muscles on its route to the smaller vasodilated capillaries (microvascular circulation) which the body uses to radiate the excess ATM produced heat into the cooler ambient air.

An increase in microvascular circulation enhances oxygen delivery and nutrition to the skeletal muscles while carrying away toxins. The result, healthier more relaxed muscles throughout the entire body
